A walk through the Rhön in the middle of Fulda – this is part of the Hessentag special exhibition “On the trail of nature”. This was the first area to officially open on Friday morning.
Fulda – As the first area of the Hesse day On Friday morning (June 12th) the exhibition “On the trail of nature“opened in the Fulda floodplains. “'On the Trail of Nature' always has the privilege of starting before the actual opening,” said Hesse's Agriculture Minister Ingmar Jung (CDU) in a welcoming speech. Another tradition is the appearance of the hunting horn players, who were there again this time.
First Hessentag area opened in Fulda: pure nature in the floodplains
“We want to present what Hesse has, what nature in Hesse is all about and what regional production in Hesse is all about,” added the minister. And Fulda's mayor Dr. Heiko Wingenfeld (CDU) emphasized: “I was really amazed this morning. We have a place here that embodies the coexistence of urbanity and nature.”
The Hessian Rhön was recreated in the diorama tent. Visitors have the opportunity to explore a forest or discover various animals and plants as well as a stream. “We are particularly proud of that. But the other stands that we see outside are also definitely worth a visit,” said Dr. Bernhard von Finckenstein, state manager of Hesse Forestry.
Hessentag representative Dominik Höhl said with a view to the mixed weather on the opening day: “The little bit of rain is a blessing from above.” Vera Dudyka, who forms the Hessentag couple with her husband Max, was emotional at the start of Hessentag: “This is our first official greeting. I had to fight back tears that after six years of waiting it is finally starting.” The love of nature is something that connects the two, and the special exhibition is one of the areas that Max Dudyka was most looking forward to.
