Major alarm in the Hünfelder Land on Corpus Christi: A 120-meter-long windrow of dung fields near Eiterfeld was ablaze. There was a lot of smoke. The population was informed via radio warning.
Eiterfeld – On Corpus Christi (June 4th) the control station alerted Fulda around noon at 12 p.m. the fire departments from Eiterfeld and Eiterfeld-Leibolz. The reason was a fire in a manure field on Landesstraße 3380 in the Hünfelder Land between Eiterfeld and Ufhausen, below Fürsteneck Castle. The market town announced this information.
Dung field rental near Eiterfeld in flames
A field rental is the temporary storage of stable manure (solid manure) on agricultural land (fields or grassland). Under the direction of community fire inspector Stephan Heimeroth, around 25 firefighters fought the flames and prevented the fire from spreading further.
However, the fire caused a lot of smoke, which is why the Hünfeld police issued a radio warning for the affected areas and their population. The fire site was finally handed over to the owner's representative with conditions for subsequent extinguishing work.
This includes the obligation to create a protective strip with plows and to provide a fire watch. The pile of manure that caught fire stretched around 120 meters in length, 20 meters in width and reached a height of up to five meters. The fire brigade left around 3:30 p.m.
They were actively supported by other farmers who came to help with wheel loaders and water barrels. “The owner of the fixed rent will probably be busy for the next few days with pulling the rent apart using wheel loaders and carrying out subsequent extinguishing work,” said the market town of Eiterfeld.
Police call for witnesses after fire
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, the municipality said. Witnesses who can provide relevant information are asked to contact the police in Hünfeld on (06652) 96580. In addition to the Eiterfeld and Leibolz district fire departments, officers from the police and public order office were also on duty.
A fire at a wind turbine near Kitzingen in Lower Franconia recently caused the A7 motorway to be completely closed. The fire department was powerless. She couldn't put out the fire. Devices that are over 100 meters high were missing. The fire department warned of dangers. The highway was temporarily closed.
