The German Weather Service issued an official warning of strong thunderstorms for the Fulda district and the Main-Kinzig district on Corpus Christi.
Fulda/Schlüchtern – The official warning of strong thunderstorms for the Fulda district is valid on Thursday (June 4th) between 3:58 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., according to the German Weather Service (DWD) in Offenbach. The warning in Main-Kinzig district was after the Weather-Experts only valid between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Corpus Christi.
Thunderstorm warning for Corpus Christi: Danger in Fulda and Main-Kinzig
For the Fulda district, the weather service warns: “There is a risk of severe thunderstorms of level 2 of 4 occurring.” Dangers, sometimes life-threatening, can arise from lightning strikes, isolated falling trees, falling objects and isolated, rapid flooding of streets and underpasses.
According to the meteorologists, aquaplaning and hailstorms could also occur. The DWD recommends avoiding spending time outdoors or seeking shelter (for example in buildings). Furthermore, bodies of water should be avoided and scaffolding and free-standing objects such as screens and stages should be secured.
“Attach tents and covers, dismantle them in good time if possible, watch out for falling objects outdoors, for example large branches and roof tiles, and seek shelter if necessary,” advises the weather service. In addition, behavior in road traffic should be adjusted and flooded and endangered sections (such as underpasses) should be avoided.
After weeks of drought and the first heat in May, the weather in Germany changed fundamentally in the first week of June. Low temperatures brought showers and cooler temperatures. There were already thunderstorm warnings for East Hesse two days before Corpus Christi.
