Hanau – In the early hours of the morning on Friday (May 29th), a garden shed caught fire in an allotment garden at the Alfred-Nobel-Bogen in Hanau. At around 4:30 a.m., several residents noticed a cloud of smoke that was visible from afar over the area and called the emergency services. When the fire brigade and police arrived, the hut was already fully ablaze. However, the emergency services were quickly able to contain and extinguish the flames. Investigators estimate the material damage caused to be several thousand euros.
Second fire in Hanau allotment gardens – evidence of arson
The cause of the fire is still unclear, but officials are now investigating indications of possible arson. Witnesses reported to police that there was a loud bang associated with the fire breaking out. Shortly afterwards, a person came out of the garden plot in question and ran towards the exit of the complex. She then allegedly drove away in a car.
This is the second fire in the allotment garden within a short period of time. On May 14th, several garden houses were destroyed in a fire. In this case, too, investigations into the cause of the fire are still ongoing.
