“The perpetrators then tried to use a Visa card they had obtained to pay for purchases at a gas station on Petersberger Straße in Petersberg,” the officers report.
The police advise caution. “Never leave valuables unattended and carry handbags and shoulder bags closed on the front around your body or tuck them under your arm,” emphasize the officials. Pickpockets can often be identified by a “typical searching look”: “They avoid direct eye contact with the victim and tend to look for the prey.” Wallets, cell phones, etc. should be carried close to the body, ideally in the closed inner pockets of clothing.
The East Hesse Police Headquarters will receive information about the theft on the bus by calling (0661) 1050.
