Two sixth graders thrilled the bathers with large-format screens directly in the swimming pool. The paintings also decorate the walls in the city palace.
Fulda – An extraordinary art project from the Rabanus-Maurus School has attracted astonished looks at the Ziehers sports pool in recent weeks. Three large-format, colorful canvases adorned the walls of the indoor swimming pool – and showed exactly what is lived in this place every day: the dynamics, movement and joie de vivre of everyday swimming pool life.
Students from the Domgymnasium bring color to the Ziehers sports pool
The students in grades 6e and 6f of the Domgymnasium are behind the works. Under the guidance of their art teacher Julia Strathmann, they dealt intensively with the element of water. The focus was on the question: How can water be made artistically visible? The special thing about the campaign: the art was presented exactly where it originated. This direct dialogue with the bathers transformed the school project into a public experience.
The innovative campaign was supported by RhönEnergie Fulda and the entire sports pool team led by manager Joys Rupprecht. The school's art department also got involved: While Ulrich Hrasky designed the accompanying posters, Andrea Trapp was also committed to the project.
But the pictures don't just decorate the walls in the Ziehers sports pool. Further creative works from the project can also be viewed directly in front of the halls of mirrors in the city palace until May 31st.
While the students are improving the appearance of the Ziehers sports pool, the Fulda district is also spending a lot of money on the technology: Around one million euros will flow into the modernization of the city's indoor swimming pools. The district committee had already decided on the funding in December.
