For SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz, the game against SV Wehen Wiesbaden is the first final in the Hessen Cup. The title would lead the East Hesse regional football league team into the DFB Cup, but would also help them financially.

Offenbach – The Hessen Cup final against SV Wehen Wiesbaden is the biggest game in the club's history for SG Barockstadt. The SGB has never been in the final of the state cup. “Being able to create this historic moment should be incentive and motivation enough,” said Barockstadt coach Daniyel Cimen in the press conference before the final.

SG Barockstadt wants to make history in the Hessen Cup

How torgranate.de reportednot only is the biggest sporting success for the East Hesse team in the regional football league, but also a windfall: the German Football Association paid out around 211,000 euros in the current season for participation in the first round of the DFB Cup, which beckons after a final win against third division team Wehen Wiesbaden.

In the squad, only Marvin Pourié, Hans Nunoo Sarpei and Marius Grösch, who will become player-coach in Eichenzell in a few weeks, played games in the DFB Cup. That's why Cimen notices that the mood is different this week. Not just on the training field.

The Hessen Cup final between SG Barockstadt Fulda-Lehnerz and SV Wehen Wiesbaden will take place on Saturday (May 23rd) at 4:30 p.m. in Offenbach. Numerous baroque city fans are expected at the stadium on Bieberer Berg. If you can't be there, you can watch the game in Live ticker from torgranate.de track. Our football portal will of course publish a report as well as photos and videos from the historic final. We are also reporting on the final today on fuldaerzeitung.de.

“We feel the support in the city and in the region. Every single spectator can support, and that gives an extra dose of motivation. It's important to convert that into positive energy on the pitch,” says Cimen, who wants his team to show a courageous performance against the defending champions: “That's important when you're not the favorite. We have to bring our best performance onto the pitch. Paired with courage, there's always a chance, the past has shown us that many times.”

In addition to Luis Klein, goalkeeper Justin Duda will also be missing from SG Barockstadt, who will miss the game due to illness. Over the 90 minutes and a potential penalty shootout, regular goalkeeper Samuel Zapico will gain confidence anyway. The Spaniard, for whom it will also be the last game in the SGB jerseyhad brought his team into the penalty shoot-out with his saves in the semi-final against Kickers Offenbach and saved three attempts.

Contractions Wiesbaden already made FC Bayern tremble

Daniel Scherning, coach of SV Wehen Wiesbaden, didn't want to talk for long about his role as favorite: “It doesn't matter the most whether you come from the regional league or the 3rd league. We are playing against a strong team that came second in the second half of the season.”

Wiesbaden fell far short of a place in the top four in the 3rd league and has to win the Hessen Cup in order to take part in the DFB Cup. Last season, Wehen Wiesbaden hosted FC Bayern Munich in the first round and only conceded the decisive goal in stoppage time to make it 2-3 from Harry Kane.

“The game is very important. The club realized what it means to be in the DFB Cup and to have a big game against Bayern Munich,” says Scherning. Record player Sascha Mockenhaupt, who has won the Hessian state cup four times so far, will play his last game for the third division team on Saturday – possibly in front of over 3,000 spectators. As HFV press spokesman Matthias Gast revealed, 2,800 tickets have been sold so far.
