
Fulda investigators tracked down a German in Egypt who was wanted with an international arrest warrant. The 58-year-old is linked to several crimes. The judiciary is investigating.
Fulda – On February 1st, Egyptian police forces, in cooperation with the East Hesse Police Headquarters in Fulda, arrested a 58-year-old German at the airport in Hurghada. The public prosecutor's offices in Kassel and Gießen, together with the East Hesse police headquarters, informed about the success of the search.
According to current information from the police, the man, who originally comes from northern Hesse, is suspected of having misused a significant five-figure loan amount from a private individual for personal purposes since 2020 as the managing director of a company.
German man wanted with arrest warrant caught in Egypt
There were a total of three arrest warrants – two from the Kassel public prosecutor's office and one from the Alsfeld district court Vogelsberg district (which is why East Hesse officials also investigated the case) – for tax evasion and fraud against the 58-year-old. His whereabouts were previously unknown.
Through intensive search measures, the Fulda criminal police, in cooperation with the Federal Office of Justice, the Foreign Office, the Federal Criminal Police Office and the Egyptian authorities, managed to locate and arrest the wanted man.
Egypt's Supreme Court ordered the man's extradition detention on April 20, 2026. On April 29, he was transferred to Germany and brought before a judge at the district court in Frankfurt. He executed the arrest warrants and ordered pre-trial detention.
Meanwhile Two former judicial employees were recently tried in Gelnhausen for betraying secrets. According to the court in Kinzigtal, the two defendants from the Hanau and Fulda area ultimately did not reveal any official secrets, but did reveal private secrets. They have now been sentenced for this.
