Actress Alexandra Maria Lara has announced the death of her mother. The 47-year-old says goodbye on Instagram and speaks of an “immeasurable loss”.

Alexandra Maria Lara (47) mourns the loss of her mother Doina Platareanu. The actress made her death public on Instagram. She wrote about a photo of the deceased: “My mom. So beautiful and strong and extraordinary, even in this last, challenging time.” There are no words for this “immeasurable loss”: “My heart is broken and at the same time it is full of the greatest love and admiration and gratitude. I, we love you more than anything. Always and forever, here and everywhere.”
Lara's mother came from Romania
She formulated the last sentence in her native Romanian: “Te ador iubita mea.” In German: “I love you, my love.” Lara leaves open when and under what circumstances her mother died. Alexandra Maria Lara was born in Bucharest in 1978 as the daughter of the philologist Doina Platareanu and the actor Valentin Platareanu (1936-2019). When she was five years old, the family fled to Germany to escape the Ceaușescu regime. Today she is one of the most popular German actresses. She became internationally known for roles in “Downfall” and “Control”.

Lara has been married to the British actor Sam Riley (46), who was her partner during the filming of “Control” and played the lead role there, since 2009. The couple has a son together, who was born in 2014, and lives in Berlin-Charlottenburg.
