The new miniature golf course at the environmental center in Fulda opens its doors on Saturday. Our editorial team tested the rides in advance – and had a lot of fun doing it.
Fulda – The 18 holes of the miniature golf course at the environmental center are still sparkling cleanthe rackets with suction cups at the end of the handle to fish the balls out of the holes have no grip marks yet, and the balls themselves roll perfectly. The facility opens its doors on Saturday (May 9th) and visitors can even play for free on opening day.
The yellow obstacles that separate the teeing area from the targets glow in the sun during the FZ editorial team's test game. The first test shots are taking place there, while Christoph Jestädt, Paul Pawlowski-Rothen Bücher and their team are still bringing the tables, benches and counters to a shine.
Miniature golf course at the Fulda Environmental Center opens its doors
The first weekend in your new restaurant “Firlefranz” – the baptism of fire, as they say – was already successful in the best weather on May 1st. Play operations begin on the Fulda-Auen area from Saturday (May 9th). Fans of miniature golf can look forward to exciting rounds in a natural atmosphere. No wonder that there is also talk of MiniNaturGolf in the area, which also has information boards about the Star City. After all, there is also a nature education program available at this location.
Only the area for relaxing in the middle of the square has not yet been released. As signs from the city of Fulda reveal, the freshly sown lawn still has to grow by Hesse Day. Entering the meadow on which park benches are set up is therefore still prohibited.
opening
The opening times of the “Firlefranz” bistro (Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.) also correspond to the opening times of the miniature golf course (last rental opportunity: at 7 p.m.).
Speaking of which Hesse day: The state festival was already a key word almost a decade ago when it came to building a new miniature golf course. The city actually wanted to replace the former square by the first planned date in 2021 or by the State Garden Show in 2023. The railways, which were still located in the upper part of the palace gardens at that time, were in a dilapidated condition. The lease agreement with the Fulda miniature golf club expired in 2020.
In 2024 the Fulda floodplain came into consideration. The course was set for the 400,000 euro project last year. Now the balls can roll on the 18 lanes of the 2000 square meter area. The players can record the fewest number of hits possible by hand on the piece of paper or digitally and at the same time they can solve a quiz about the Star City, the answers to which are provided on the information boards.
