Four people were injured in a presumably intentional vehicle fire on Chattenstrasse on Friday night, and there was also extensive property damage.
Bruchköbel – According to police reports, the fire broke out on Friday around 4 a.m. in a Mercedes V-Class parked on the street and then spread to a Ford Transit that was standing next to it. Both vehicles were fully engulfed in flames when the fire department arrived. The heat and flames also damaged a window front and the facade of an adjacent single-family home. The police provisionally estimate the total damage at around 130,000 euros.

At the time of the fire, a 33-year-old man, a 30-year-old woman and two small children were in the residence. All four were taken to hospital for further examination with suspected smoke inhalation, which they probably sustained while leaving the house, the police said.
How exactly the fire started is currently unclear. According to the current status of the investigation, the criminal police assume that arson was intentionally set and have taken over further investigations. Witnesses are asked to contact the police on (06181) 100123.
The role of a previously unknown driver is also still unclear. Immediately after the fire broke out, a witness claims to have observed a dark Audi sedan with a GN license plate that quickly drove away from the location. According to the police, this driver should also report to the investigators.
The Police in the Main-Kinzig district recently also checked vehicles on the A66 – and had to be banned from continuing the journey several times.
