A 40-year-old has to answer before the Fulda regional court for drug trafficking. The police came across the drug by chance.
Fulda – A 40-year-old man from Fulda is currently standing before the Fulda regional court. The allegations are serious: He is said to have traded large quantities of drugs in September 2025. He is also accused of violating the Medicines and Weapons Act. The man has been in custody ever since.
Specifically, according to the indictment, it involves around 1.5 kilograms of cannabis products and 327 grams of other drugs, including cocaine, amphetamines, heroin and MDMA. The 40-year-old from Fulda is also said to have been in possession of various prescription medications, including opioids.
Accidental police discovery leads to drug trial in Fulda
The case got rolling after a police operation in September near the Fulda Clinic. There was an argument there in which a knife was also involved. One person was slightly injured, the suspected perpetrator and others involved fled.
When witnesses were questioned, a clue emerged: several people involved are said to have fled to the apartment of the later defendant. The officers set off – but no one opened the door on site. Because they heard noises in the apartment, they finally gained entry by force. However, the clue quickly turned out to be harmless: the noises came from a cat.
When they entered the apartment, the officers were met with an unusual sight: there were several grow tents with cannabis plants in the rooms. A search warrant was then obtained. During the search, the police found much more than just plants. In addition to cannabis, they also discovered various other drugs – some of them well hidden. For example, amphetamines were in prepared milk cartons in the refrigerator. “Who has four liters of UHT milk in their fridge?” said an official in court. Cat food packaging and originally labeled cans also apparently served as hiding places.
In court, the 40-year-old admitted possessing the drugs and dealing cannabis. According to his own statements, the sale served to finance his own consumption. He explained that he had been severely addicted for many years. He consumed around two grams of heroin and two grams of cocaine every day. He has been taking cannabis regularly since he was 14 years old.
Drugs hidden between milk and cat food
According to his own statements, he only stored the amphetamines found in the refrigerator for a dealer in order to pay off debts. For this he was given 250 euros, and he also received 15 grams of the substance. In addition to the drugs, investigators also seized several weapons, including two machetes, several knives and a crossbow. The defendant stated that he did not want to use it. Some he received as gifts, others he used in connection with growing the plants.
The arrest ultimately came about in a rather unusual way: after the police had forced open the apartment door, they had a new lock installed. Since the defendant was not at home, the officers left a note saying that he could pick up the key at the police station. “We didn’t expect him to actually come to the station in person,” a police officer said in court. But that's exactly what the man did because he was worried about his cat.
A police officer also reported finding exercise books in the apartment. In it, the defendant stated that he wanted to get his life back under control. The hearing will continue on May 19th at the Fulda regional court.
A drug trafficker was recently convicted before the Fulda regional court. The 38-year-old had traded kilos of marijuana, cannabis, amphetamines and cocaine.
