It is causing particularly great interest online in the run-up to the Eurovision Song Contest.
Around a week before the Eurovision Song Contest, the German entry is at the top of global search interest: According to Google, “Fire” by Sarah Engels is the most searched ESC song in the past 30 days.

Sarah Engels' According to Google data from the past 30 days, hit “Fire” is the most searched ESC song worldwide. This puts the German title ahead of “Regarde!” from France, “Per Semper Sì” from Italy, “Pray” from Poland and the Australian contribution “Eclipse”. Within Germany, however, search interest is primarily directed at contributions from other countries. The most frequently googled in this country was “Liekinheitin” from Finland, followed by “Bangaranga” from Bulgaria, “Andromeda” from Croatia, “Tanzschein” from Austria and “Eins, Zwei, Drei” from Great Britain.

Outside Germany, searches for Sarah Engels and her song “Fire” in the past 30 days came primarily from Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Greece and Sweden. Google is currently recording the greatest ESC interest overall in Greece: in the weekly evaluation, the country is ahead of Finland and Austria. Germany only follows in 23rd place in this category.

One question in particular concerns ESC fans
Parallel to the musical competition, interest in the organizational and political aspects of the event is growing. Inquiries about “Eurovision 2026 tickets” increased by 170 percent in the last seven days. The increase is even clearer when it comes to the question of which countries are boycotting the ESC: Google registered an increase of 560 percent here. The search query “why should the esc be boycotted” also stands out as a noticeable outlier.

Another question has appeared particularly frequently in the search mask in the past 30 days: Why no famous singers actually compete in the Eurovision Song Contest. It is one of the most searched why questions about competition. For the winners since 2004, the big names in ESC history continue to dominate search interest. Conchita Wurst, who triumphed for Austria in 2014, is at the top worldwide. They are followed by the Italian band Måneskin (win in 2021), the Swedish singer Loreen with her two triumphs in 2012 and 2023, ABBA, who won for Sweden in 1974, and Céline Dion, who competed for Switzerland in 1988 and won.
