
Spectacular chase in the afternoon: A scooter driver evaded control and raced away at high speed – including over a cycle path.
Birstein – The incident occurred on Sunday (April 26th) around 5:30 p.m. on Birsteiner Bahnhofstrasse near a gas station. According to the police, a patrol noticed a black scooter without an insurance license plate. When the officers activated the stop signal, the driver, believed to be male, accelerated and fled.

According to the police, his escape initially took him along a cycle path parallel to the main road, then the scooter driver turned towards Industriestrasse. From there he returned at high speed towards Bahnhofstrasse. In front of the railway monument he switched again to a parallel cycle path and continued his journey towards Brachttal. According to police, he reached speeds of up to 80 km/h.
In the Hellstein district, the trace of the unknown driver was finally lost. According to current findings, the fugitive may have continued his journey towards the street “Am Sportplatz”. The driver was wearing a black helmet with accents, dark pants and a dark bomber jacket.
According to the police, evidence suggests that the black scooter has been seen several times in town without a license plate and that the driver could be from the surrounding area. The police in Schlüchtern are asking for further information about the scooter and its driver. Witnesses are asked to contact the police station on (06661) 96100.
Meanwhile, there was also a wild chase in the Rhön: A 22-year-old fled from the police because of unregistered aluminum rims – he now faces serious consequences.
