Numerous visitors flocked to the monastery market on the Frauenberg in the beautiful spring weather. A special highlight this year: the opening of the renovated arcade.

Fulda – The new arcade will be used as a place of peace and meeting in the future. The costs of the renovation were borne by the “Friends of Frauenberg” association. Board member Richard Hartwig emphasized that the project is an example of what has been created on the Frauenberg in recent years. As a place of peace, the arcade offers protection, but at the same time creates connection – like the Frauenberg as a whole, hospitable, spiritual and inclusive.

However, the monastery garden on the Frauenberg was not a place of peace last Saturday, but it was even more of a place of encounter. Because once again there were numerous guests the monastery market, which has been taking place regularly since 2020 flocked to discover craftsmanship and regional specialties in the monastery garden.

Many visitors took advantage of the sunny spring weather to enjoy handmade unique items, decorations, children's clothing, plants and flower arrangements, jewelry and a variety of regional delicacies at the stands. Antonius' duck sale met with great response this time: the plastic ducks are sold for… the planned duck race on June 20th during the Hesse Day needed and were very well received by market visitors, as Antonius reported in a press release.

At the ceremonial opening of the renovated arcade, Philipp Krah (Antonius), Richard Hartwig and Guardian Father Cornelius Bohl (Franciscan) gave a brief overview of the origins and progress of the renovation work. Particular emphasis was placed on the energy of Antonius' monastery garden working group, led by Stefan Geisler, which made a significant contribution to the reconstruction of the arcade.

Guardian Father Cornelius Bohl continued with a short spiritual impulse. An arcade is rather atypical for a monastery garden, he explained, but it is a good and valuable place that invites you to stroll, provides shade and offers protection.

With the warm spring weather continuing, the monastery market ended in the late afternoon with a consistently positive response from everyone involved. The music was provided by the Fulda music group Yerlos Vej, which accompanied the market events in the monastery garden.
