This market was really very bright: bright sunshine to the Helle Markt. For three days the city center was transformed under the motto “More art. More market. More wow.” into a lively festival mile.
Schlüchtern – The Helle Markt invited you to stroll, enjoy and celebrate. With market activity, regional offerings, live music on two stages, a shopping Sunday – and, for the first time, an accompanying art festival – the weekend was a special experience for all generations. For the first time, Schlüchtern was transformed into a lively place for contemporary art. International artists worked with students from the city school to develop works that were created through open exchange and became visible in the urban space.
Pure sunshine: bright market attracts thousands of visitors to Schlüchtern
After the official opening on Friday, the evening was pretty rocky. There was also live music with “Dykes” and later “BBC Rock” on the stage in the town square. A smaller event area was to the side of the Gasthof Hausmann, where the “Trio In Flagranti” performed.
Saturday was all about local clubs and cultural offerings. The young talent showed off their skills in quick succession on the town square stage. The start was made by the school and later the youth band of the Schlüchtern town band. Lukas Bachmann moderated the colorful program in his usual relaxed manner, in which young dance groups from the Turnverein 1861, the Schlüchtern carnival club “Die Spätfußer” and The Stage (formerly the Opsahl Ballet Hall) performed and showed their skills.

Their performances thrilled the audience. At the same time, the exhibition “The Nazi Occupation in Jarociner Land 1939–1945” opened in the Bergwinkel Museum to great public interest. There was also a delegation from the Polish sister city who was visiting Schlüchtern for the entire weekend. In the evening, rock sounds were the focus again. “Rio Live” performed on the town square, while “Schneider & Strietzel” and “Mojo Filter” performed at Hausmann. There was a particularly dense crowd in the town square. People enjoyed themselves not only with the music, but also with the wide range of food and drinks on offer.
Yesterday, many people once again filled the festival mile, which stretched from Oberstrasse via Schlossstrasse to “Unter den Linden”. “The colorful children’s tent” on Klosterstrasse looked after a large children’s play paradise. In addition, the Schlüchtern retailer offered a special opening time yesterday afternoon. On the town square, students from the Tonika Music School gave a sample of their skills in front of hundreds of people.

Mayor Matthias Möller (independent) thanked Magnus and Natalia Schmerfeld and the children and spoke of a great festival. The Schlüchtern city guides offered tours around the city. And the “Maryland Trio” played at Hausmann’s. Conclusion: The Helle Markt offered many people a feast for all the senses. The great sunny weather provided a perfect setting for this.
