Unexpected discovery in the Bundesliga soccer team's stadium in Gelsenkirchen: a dead, elderly man is discovered one day after a tour. According to the police, what is known about the background.

A body was found in the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen. It was an elderly man who died of natural causes, police said. He had already been a visitor on a tour of the Bundesliga football club FC Schalke 04's venue on Wednesday and was finally found by a cleaner on Thursday.

The man died due to a medical emergency. According to the police, it is unclear why his absence was not noticed and why he was only found the following day. Schalke 04 could not initially be reached for comment when asked by dpa. The Bild newspaper had previously reported. (sfu/dpa)
