
Marcel Kister wants to become mayor of Kalbach. Supported by the CDU, he is running against his boss, incumbent Mark Bagus, and against Marco Schlender.
Kalbach – The mayoral election in Kalbach will take place on September 13, 2026. Incumbent Mark Bagus (independent) is running again in the election. Marcel Kister, originally from Flieden, plans to move with his family to the Eichenried district of Kalbach after his house is completed. “I want to make Kalbach fit for the future. This primarily concerns the issues of municipal infrastructure and finances,” he explains his main goals as mayor.
According to a press release, Marcel Kister also wants to work to noticeably improve and make communication more transparent both within the administration with employees and externally towards citizens, associations and local entrepreneurs.
“My goal is to specifically restructure the administrative organization in order to make processes more efficient, define responsibilities more clearly and sustainably improve the service for the citizens of the Kalbach community,” says the 35-year-old. His campaign slogan: “Speed, transparency, energy”.
Mayoral candidate moves to Kalbach with his family
“We need a young, motivated specialist who is rooted in our community and who embodies the necessary joy and enthusiasm for the mayor's tasks,” says Jonathan Strott, chairman of the CDU Kalbach, according to the press release: “Marcel Kister meets all the requirements. He has mastered all facets of administration, is communicative and decisive. With him as mayor, things will finally move forward again in Kalbach,” explains the chairman. The Union's board of directors unanimously decided to support the independent applicant.
According to the information, Marcel Kister is a trained business economist, has completed a degree in public management and is an administrative specialist at the Administrative Academy in Fulda. He has been working as a treasurer in Kalbach since May 2024, after working for the city of Fulda for 17 years in almost all specialist areas.
He is involved in the Hesse state management of the Komba trade union and is a part-time lecturer at the Hesse Administrative Academy for Accounting, Cost Performance Accounting and Economics. He has been married to Michelle, a native of Veitsteinbach, since 2023. The couple has a daughter and are expecting their second child in the summer.
Kister is running against his current boss in the mayoral election
Marcel Kister's hobbies include football and carnival. He plays for SV Höf and Haid and is active in CCD Döngesmühle. According to the press release, Kister is the only one of the three candidates who will move his residence to Kalbach. He is running against his superior Mark Bagus.
“I deal with it professionally and believe that this will also be the case with Mark Bagus,” says Marcel Kister, who, according to his own statements, personally informed his boss and competitor about his decision before the public announcement of his candidacy for mayor of Kalbach.
A growing family, building a house, a job, an election campaign: the candidate has intense weeks ahead of him. “I know that the next time will be stressful. But I have strong support from family and friends. Everyone has promised me their support because they know that I can be a good mayor for Kalbach.”
Marcel Kister wants to run an intensive election campaign. “I would like to talk to the citizens as well as representatives of the clubs and local companies and find out what concerns them. This will be the case at festivals, my own events and at front doors, among other things.”
