At the weekend, ex-Bundesliga professional Markus Mendler (16 Bundesliga games for 1. FC Nürnberg) was not in the squad for his current club FC 08 Homburg. It is now clear why the team's star was missing: his wife Tamara died on Saturday night at the age of 32. As FC Homburg writes in a statement, Tamara “left us after a short, serious illness (…)”.

Tamara Mendler, who was a soccer player herself and met her husband Markus when they both played for 1. FC Saarbrücken, recently gave birth to a healthy child, which is Tamara and Markus Mendler's second child together.
In addition to FC Homburg, 1.
