Tanja Marfo weighs 200 kilos when she makes one last attempt to turn her life around and fight her excess weight. RTL accompanies you on this difficult journey – from a stomach reduction to skin tightening. Thanks to stomach reduction: Tanja Marfo lost 90 kilos in two years
Tanja developed an eating disorder when she was a teenager. “Binge eating” phases are followed by extreme diets, but without long-term success. At the age of 41, Tanja already weighs 200 kilos – a condition that she can no longer tolerate. “I always have the feeling that people have to be considerate of me,” admits Tanja in an interview with RTL.
The 41-year-old makes one last attempt to make lasting changes to her life: she goes under the knife to have a stomach reduction. During a two-hour operation under general anesthesia, Tanja's stomach volume is reduced. The goal: Tanja should be able to eat less and be full more quickly. And that finally worked!

Within two years, Tanja lost 90 kilos. But with this huge success comes a new problem that is often overlooked: overstretched skin.
Because of excess skin! Tanja Marfo decides to have a tightening
“The excess skin limits me in everyday life,” reveals Tanja in an RTL interview. The now 46-year-old finds it particularly difficult to buy pants and do strength training. In order to finally feel comfortable in her body again, Tanja decides to take one last decisive step: She has the excess skin flap surgically removed.
This requires two procedures: liposuction and then skin tightening. Dr. Daniel Rüger, from the Rosenpark Clinic in Darmstadt, explains: “Of course we want to remove as much as possible so that nothing is left, and with this liposuction I can thin out the tissue.” The entire abdomen is then reshaped from the upper abdomen.

Shortly before the operation, Tanja was visibly nervous to RTL: “I've never had such a long operation before. It has a lot to do with giving up control. I'm excited.” But the 46-year-old focuses on the positive: “This is a completely new phase of life and I fought for it for so long.” Although she feels fear, she also feels anticipation!
The operation lasts two and a half hours. “It wasn't easy, but it turned out very, very nicely. So we actually removed another 5.8 kilos of stomach and skin. So it was really worth it“, explains Dr. Daniel Rüger in an RTL interview after the operation.

Tanja also likes the result: “It's amazing how hard it feels – so tight,” the newly operated woman comments on her own stomach after her bandage is gently opened. Her new belly still feels unfamiliar, almost like a “foreign body”. Has that changed after seven weeks?

Seven weeks after her operation: How is Tanja doing now?
A few weeks after Tanja's skin tightening, RTL received a video message showing an overjoyed Tanja. “For the very first time in over 20 years I'm wearing a size 44” exclaims the 46-year-old enthusiastically. Tanja proudly shows off her toned stomach and reveals that she now weighs 100 kilos less.
