From one day to the next, the carefree youth is over!
Neele was just 18 when doctors told her that she had an inoperable brain tumor. There is no longer any healing – only the hope of time, freedom from pain and a few last wishes that are good for her and her family.
Döbeln: Fundraising campaign for Neele (18) who suffers from cancer – her last wishes touch the entire region
Time is running out for 18-year-old Neele from Ostrau near Döbeln. Just a few weeks ago she was a completely normal student in the 12th grade: She is studying for her Abitur, spending time with friends, and has just found her first great love, writes the Dresdener Neuste Nachrichten. But when her headaches get worse and worse and other symptoms appear, the horror diagnosis follows: incurable brain tumor.
The doctors tell Neele: there is no treatment or operation that can save her – only therapies that might give her some time and relieve the pain. They advise the 18-year-old to write a wish list of moments and dreams that she would like to experience in the time she has left.

Friends start fundraising campaign for “Moments of Happiness”
Friends start a fundraising campaign: “Give moments of happiness for Neele and her family,” it says on the platform GoFundMe. The money is intended to help make their dreams come true – excursions, special days, perhaps a trip – and at the same time relieve the family, who often reach their limits between care, clinic appointments and everyday life.
Neele's story is shared hundreds of times on social networks, along with comments, hearts and messages of encouragement. Her fate touches the people in Döbeln and the entire region – and shows how many still wish her happy moments, even though it is clear to everyone how little time she has left.

When an entire region says: You are not alone
In just a few days, over 48,000 euros have already been raised – money that Neele and her family can use to fulfill many of these last wishes. On the GoFundMe-page, her friends write: “We would be very happy if you gave Neele some quality of life through your donations” – and that's exactly what's happening now.
Her list includes the USA, Spain, Madeira, England – and concerts by her favorite acts like 01099 and Kraftklub. Things that sound like normal dreams to many, but for Neele they are moments that should stay when her body can't take it anymore at some point.
Neele struggles even when her everyday life is difficult. Thanks to the donations she will be able to fulfill some of her dreams. She can start planning instead of just doing without, and her family will have to worry a little less about money during this difficult time. Nobody knows how long Neele will stay – but after this overwhelming fundraising campaign, it is clear that she is not alone on her journey. (ros)
