Gelnhausen – The award ceremony of the medium-sized business award from the Federal Association of Medium-sized Businesses (BVMW) in the Main-Kinzig district took place in a festive atmosphere in the Main-Kinzig Forum in Gelnhausen. In front of around 50 invited guests from politics, business and institutions, Andreas Malle, managing director of X Quadrat GmbH from Gelnhausen, was named “Entrepreneur of the Year 2025”.
Five special entrepreneurial personalities from the region were nominated for the prize: Andreas Malle (X Quadrat GmbH, Gelnhausen), Mike Lorenz (Lorenz Energie GmbH; Gründau), Rainer Lapp (Rewe-Märkte; Gelnhausen, Sterbfritz), Thomas Carduck (Badtke Edelstahl GmbH; Langenselbold) and Ralf Roth (Es.Ro. Fußbodenbau GmbH; Steinau). They exemplify the performance and diversity of regional medium-sized businesses.

The winner was selected by an expert jury who evaluated the nominees in detailed presentations. Criteria included entrepreneurial success, employee culture, commitment to training, social responsibility, innovative strength, degree of digitalization, sustainability and networking ability. Up to ten points could be awarded per criterion. Since the results were close, the jury supplemented its evaluation with personal discussions and company visits.
The evening was opened by Michael Graf, who emphasized in his speech the central importance of medium-sized businesses for the German economy. “Small and medium-sized businesses are the mainstay of our economy,” he emphasized, praising the achievements of entrepreneurs who often take on responsibility far away from public attention, create jobs and think long-term.
District councilor Jannik Marquart (CDU) also underlined the strength of medium-sized businesses in the district in his welcoming speech. He praised the innovative strength, commitment and regional ties of the companies and noted that not all of Berlin's political frameworks meet the needs of medium-sized businesses.
Laudation for Malle: Commitment and leadership characterize him
The five nominees were featured in short films. Norm Kegler, spokesman for the jury, called it a challenging task to choose a prize winner from five equally qualified candidates. The choice fell on Andreas Malle.
His impressive career was acknowledged in the laudatory speech: Born in Klagenfurt in 1969, Malle began his career in retail before taking the step into self-employment in 1993. After successfully building and selling his first company, he founded X Quadrat GmbH in 2009.
Today the company offers a comprehensive range of services relating to the planning, construction and management of real estate and has established itself as a regional market leader with 20 employees. In addition to his economic success, Andreas Malle is characterized by his personal commitment, his leadership and his focus on sustainable construction. The promotion of team spirit within his company and his social commitment were also particularly emphasized. (shush)
Andreas Malle's award is just one example of the recognition of outstanding company performance. An entrepreneur award will also soon be presented in Schlitz.
