Who would have known? “Pretty Little Liars” is very trendy – you probably don’t know these seven mysterious facts about the series

“Pretty Little Liars” delights with a total of seven seasons.
Who is “A”?
In 160 episodes over seven seasons, the four friends Hanna Marin, Aria Montgomery, Spencer Hastings and Emily Fields try to find out the identity of “A”. Since the disappearance of their friend Alison, they have been threatened and tyrannized by this unknown “A” person. Even today – nine years after the finale – the series still has its fans. But even die-hard “PLL” viewers probably don’t know these facts.
The “Shhhhh” in the intro to “Pretty Little Liars” wasn’t planned
Whether for the first time or for the 44th time (this is how long an episode usually lasts): you can watch “Pretty Little Liars” at any time on RTL+. The series intro alone has long since become iconic – also thanks to Aria actress Lucy Hale and her index finger. But the scene is purely coincidental, as she revealed in an interview with Cosmopolitan. “Silencing the camera was actually a spontaneous idea that just happened to make it into the final version.”

This may also explain why her finger doesn't hit the center of her mouth. This not only annoys many viewers, but also Hale herself, as she shared on X (then Twitter) in 2013: “Hey, has anyone noticed that my finger is off center when I shhing in the camera intro? Yes, that annoys me too.”
Ashley Benson chose the theme song
Speaking of the intro: The title song of the series is “Secret” by the band “The Pierces” and is a real catchy tune in every episode. The song wasn't written for the series, but rather found and suggested by Ashley Benson, who plays Hanna in the series, reports Entertainment Weekly. While filming the pilot episode in Vancouver, she played the song for the other actresses and producer Marlene King – and the rest is history.

Same age in Pretty Little Liars, but in reality there is a big age difference
At the start of the series, Spencer Hastings, Hanna Marin, Aria Montgomery, Emily Fields and Alison DiLaurentis are all around the same age. At the time of Alsion's disappearance, the Rosewood youths were approximately 14 to 15 years old. But in reality it is different: Sasha Pieterse, who plays Alison DiLaurentis in the series, was just 13 years old when she appeared in front of the camera for the pilot. Troian Bellisaro (Spencer), on the other hand, is more than ten years older and is therefore already 24 years old at the time of the series star.

Tobi Cavanaugh exists twice?
Tobi Cavanaugh not only conquers the heart of Spencer Hastings in the series – but also the hearts of numerous “PLL” fans. But did you notice that Tobi looks completely different in the pilot episode? When Tobi enters the church for Alison's funeral with stepsister Jenna in episode one, it is not actor Keegan Allen, but James Neate. Keegan Allen only played the role of Tobi Cavanaugh after the pilot film.

THAT is behind Alsion's last name
At the beginning of the series, Alison DiLaurentis is not only the leader of the girl group, her mysterious disappearance also triggers a chain of secrets, inconsistencies and problems. Over seven seasons, viewers learn more and more about Alison's secret life, but there is one detail that few people notice: Her last name, DiLaurentis, is an anagram for “Liars united.”

Ashley Tisdale was supposed to be part of Pretty Little Liars
At the latest with “High School Musical” you learned to love Ashley Tisdale. And actually she should get a leading role on “Pretty Little Liars” too. But she turned it down for another series called Hellcats.
“Pretty Little Liars” and “Gilmore Girls” in the same city?

Even though “Pretty Little Liars” and “Gilmore Girls” are several years old, they are still very much in vogue. And that's not the only thing that connects the two series: Although “Pretty Little Liars” is set in the fictional Rosewood and “Gilmore Girls” is set in the fictional Stars Hollow, many of the locations in the series will be familiar to viewers – because they were actually filmed at the same locations, Warner Bros. Studios. The Apple Rose Grille on “Gilmore Girls” was Luke’s diner and several houses also appear in both series.

“Friends,” “The Big Bang Theory” and “Young Sheldon” were also partially filmed there. You can watch “Young Sheldon” – just like “Pretty Little Liars” and “Gilmore Girls” – at any time on RTL+.
