In 2025, Samuel Dohmen became known through his participation in the 20th season of “Germany's Next Top Model”. Now the 25-year-old is making headlines because of a shock diagnosis. As he wrote on Instagram on Friday (April 3), he “almost resigned yesterday.”

But what had happened? As Bunte, among others, writes, citing Dohmen's Instagram story, the GNTM participant from 2025 had to undergo emergency surgery.
“I was in the hospital until now, in intensive care (still lying here). My intestines have turned and therefore extreme pain and life-threatening situation“, the newspaper quotes the 25-year-old.
The statement “My intestines have turned” suggests that Samuel Dohmen is suffering from a so-called Volvulus suffered. This means “the rotation of a section of the digestive tract around its axis,” explains the Marien Hospital Witten, for example, on its website. And that can be really dangerous! Because if the situation is not remedied, “it can not only lead to intestinal obstruction, but also to the death (death, editor’s note) of the affected section.”

Dohmen had and is “lucky in misfortune”. “As things stand, we escaped without any major damage”. Nevertheless, the model wants to withdraw a little for the time being and only share pre-recorded content.
However, Samuel Dohmen makes an exception: a few hours after he first reported the shocking news from the hospital, he shared another story on his Instagram profile on Friday (April 3). In it he first thanks “for the thousand well wishes and kind messages”.
He also shares a short health update: “I’m feeling pretty good again so far.” And the doctors also commented positively on his condition – “for the fact that I almost resigned yesterday”.
