Joseph Baena follows in his father Arnold Schwarzenegger's footsteps and takes part in his first bodybuilding competition. He can rely on training tips from the “Terminator”.
Before the Austrian-born Arnold Schwarzenegger became a Hollywood star as “Conan the Barbarian” and “Terminator”, the giant from Styria was one of the most famous and successful bodybuilders in the world in the 1970s and a seven-time Mr. Olympia.
Joseph Baena could now benefit from his father's competitive experience. The 28-year-old, who comes from Schwarzenegger's affair with his former housekeeper Mildred Baena, is currently getting fit for his bodybuilding debut on Saturday at a competition in Colorado – with the active support of dad Arnie. Baena shows on Instagram training together with Schwarzenegger at Gold's Gym in Venice, California.
In a series of pictures you can see, among other things, how the 78-year-old stands next to his son and gives him tips while he lifts weights. “Shock the muscles,” Baena quotes his famous father, who used this mantra during his active days as a bodybuilder.
In another post, Baena writes: “It’s almost showtime.” He also shares his intensive training program. On March 18, he said he had gained nearly nine pounds in the eight weeks leading up to his big competition at the NPC Natural Colorado State Championship, TMZ reported.
Not only does Joseph Baena lift weights like his famous father, he has also tried to follow in Schwarzenegger's footsteps in front of the camera. As an actor, the 28-year-old starred in several action films and was also seen in an episode of the cult mystery series “X Factor: The Unbelievable”.
In 2011, Arnold Schwarzenegger publicly admitted to the affair with Baena's mother. This ended his marriage to Maria Shriver, with whom the Hollywood action star and former governor of California has four legitimate children.
