Three applicants want to become the new beer queen in Lauterbach

The anniversary traditional costume festival in Schlitz will certainly be the highlight for Schlitzer Alina Eckhardt, preferably as beer queen, of course. The 20-year-old has been active with the Schlitzer Trachten- und Volkstanzkreis (TVK) since the mini group. She is currently completing a dual course of study to become a midwife. She also works in agriculture. “I started doing it during the Corona pandemic and I enjoyed it,” said Alina Eckhardt, who even has a tractor driver’s license. The Schlitz native also works on the board of the fairground boys in Hartershausen, where she lives.

Already Two years ago she thought about running for the position of Lauterbach Beer Queen to apply. “At that time I was still in the middle of my Abitur exams,” she thinks back. Among other things, she then exchanged ideas with the reigning beer princess Luisa and became even more interested in this position. “I’m also a complete beer drinker,” says Alina Eckhardt and laughs. Her favorite beer is of course the Schlitzer Auerhahn Bräu. As beer sovereignty, it then stands for the products of the entire brewery.

23-year-old Katharina Groß is also applying for the position of Lauterbach Beer Queen. She studies medicine in Marburg and lived in the university town for some time. But as a native of Frischborn, her heart beats so much for her homeland that she has returned and prefers to commute between Lauterbach and the university. At the age of 14, she started working for the German Red Cross (DRK) and still works there as a paramedic. So it made sense that after graduating from the Alexander von Humboldt School, she decided to become a doctor.

The new beer queen will have a term in office with two anniversaries

In her free time, Katharina Groß trains the TV Frischborn dance guard and also appears on stage as a dancer herself. The idea of wanting to become a beer queen came about out of fun over a morning pint. “Then I thought about it,” said the 23-year-old. After a visit to the premium market, the decision was finally made. Especially since she feels connected to the Vogelsberg country breweries: her great-grandfather and grandfather worked there.

The third candidate is 18-year-old Jana-Tabea Seling. She comes from a family of innkeepers in Dirlammen. Although it is “a little childhood dream” to one day be beer queen, she only submitted her application shortly after her father encouraged her. The student is about to graduate from high school. At the Dirlammer sports club she dances in the guards and is responsible as a trainer for the men's ballet. She also works on the board of the Dirlammer Kirmesburschen. Among the beers, their Lauterbach Pils tastes best.

The three young ladies are now looking forward to Monday, June 1st, when the 34th Lauterbach Beer Queen will be elected in the marquee at the Lauterbach Premium Market. The reigning beer princesses Luisa and Lillie Sophie have already reported to their successors about their time in office. For Lillie Sophie was The Schlitzerland traditional costume festival was a particular highlight last year. “We sat on the carriage, the spectators waved to us and the weather was really good,” she still raves about the event. Alina Eckhardt can now experience this in the coming year – possibly even as beer queen, if there are enough fans in the premium market marquee on June 1st to vote for her.
