
A nighttime traffic control ended in a chase through the city center of Bad Hersfeld. A scooter driver tried to evade the police – without success.
Bad Hersfeld – A Bad Hersfeld police patrol became aware of a scooter driver on Dippelstrasse on Saturday (March 21st) around 10:40 p.m. When the officers wanted to check him, he accelerated. The 32-year-old drove across a sidewalk and turned into Obere Frauenstrasse in the opposite direction of travel.
The escape continued along the street “Am Markt”. The scooter driver even used a pedestrian passage to get to the church square and then continued his journey onto “Am Reinchen” street.

It was all over on “Badestube” street: a patrol car blocked the road. The fugitive tried to escape through a narrow gap between the police vehicle and a traffic sign. However, he fell and fell onto the street. The 32-year-old left his scooter behind and fled on foot towards “Klaustor”. However, the police officers caught up with him and arrested him. The man suffered minor injuries in the fall.
Since it was suspected that the driver was under the influence of alcohol, the officers ordered a blood sample. After the police measures were completed, the 32-year-old was released from the department.
The man now has to answer to a trial on suspicion of, among other things, a prohibited motor vehicle race and endangering road traffic. The police estimate the material damage caused to be around 5,300 euros.
