Picnic blankets, games and Rhöner sheet cakes directly on the Fulda-Aue: On May 1, 2026, the new “Firlefranz” gourmet garden will open at the municipal environmental center.

Fulda – A new excursion destination for families, cyclists and walkers is being created at the environmental center: the “Firlefranz” gourmet garden. According to the city, it is run by the restaurateurs and entrepreneurs Paul Pawlowski-Rothen Bücher and Christoph Jestädt, who are well-known in Fulda.

The menu includes Rhöner sheet cake, regional coffee specialties from Reinholz, freshly tapped beer and bratwurst. Guests can also borrow picnic blankets and numerous game options such as football, badminton or Viking chess – there is enough space around the enjoyment garden. This will expand the existing range of restaurants at the environmental center.

“We are pleased that we were able to gain two such experienced local partners for our previous bistro,” explains Marion Gottschalk, managing director of the Environmental Center of the City of Fulda. Another attraction is being built right next to the gourmet garden: the Newly built miniature golf course “MiniNaturGolf”. As the environmental center reports, an official opening ceremony will take place there on May 9, 2026. Initially, the operation is intended for a limited number of people in order to give the newly planted lawn the best possible conditions to grow.
