New details about the missing 25-year-old from CelleThe sister's partner was in the apartment when Michelle H. disappeared
What really happened in Michelle H.'s apartment?
While the 25-year-old from Celle is still missing, a close relative of hers is becoming the focus of the investigation. According to prosecutors, her sister's partner was with her at the time of her disappearance.
The sister's partner alerted the police
It was the 46-year-old himself who alerted the police in the early morning of March 11th and “reported a suicide attempt in Michelle H.’s apartment,” said senior public prosecutor Lars Janßen in an interview with RTL. On site, investigators found numerous traces of blood and a suspicious knife. “The accused himself stated that he was in the apartment at the time these blood stains appeared. Michelle H. inflicted the injuries on herself with the knife. He intervened to stop this from happening any further.” According to his statement, Michelle then ran out of the apartment.

The public prosecutor's office is investigating suspicions of attempted murder
The public prosecutor's office is now investigating him for attempted murder and grievous bodily harm. “It is suspected that the 46-year-old injured Michelle H. in her apartment with a knife on March 11th in a potentially life-threatening manner and thereby condoned her death,” said Janßen. At the same time, he emphasizes: This is expressly only an initial suspicion. The man is not in custody, but at large.

Prosecutor Lars Janßen emphasizes in the RTL interview that the accused is still at large.

Investigations continue
The knife found in the apartment is examined in the laboratory. “The knife is considered a possible instrument of crime and is therefore examined for possible traces of blood, i.e. evidence of blood, and then further examined molecular genetically for a DNA comparison with possible people,” says Lars Janßen. At the same time, the investigations continue in all directions: “That means we are also investigating the possibility of a suicide attempt or a possible completed suicide. Michelle H. is still missing.”

Although the active search has been stopped for the time being, “the Michelle case is of course not yet closed for the police”says Kristina Ommen from the Celle police in an interview with RTL. “A lot of leads are being followed up, interrogations have to be carried out and everything that goes with a case like this (…) . And of course everything is already going on in the background and will continue.”
