She wants to prove it to everyone.
Ricarda Lang was ridiculed for years for abandoning her studies. But she doesn't give up and is currently doing her master's degree. Between the stress of exams and the Bundestag, she shows that giving up is not an option for her.
First exam in eight years
Ricarda Lang beams and looks relieved. The reason for this is not a political victory, but rather her first law exam in eight years. Two hours of public commercial law – then we go straight to the Bundestag. “We will find out in a few weeks whether A was entitled to admission to the spring market in the city of Hagen or just a discretionary decision,” writes the 32-year-old on Instagram.

13 years of studying for a bachelor's degree
Ricarda Lang is studying for a “Master of Laws” at the Open University of Hagen, alongside her mandate. “In terms of time, the whole thing is of course a challenge and has meant a lot of learning in the last few weeks on the train between the Bundestag committee and the election campaign,” she admits to Bild. But: “I also want to prove to myself that I can do it.”

For years, Ricarda Lang had to listen to ridicule for her long-interrupted studies, for example from CSU boss Markus Söder, who said his dog had better training. Ricarda Lang gave up her first law degree after seven years without a degree in favor of her political career. Finally, she will complete her bachelor's degree at the Humboldt University in Berlin in 2025 – a full 13 years after starting her studies. (nha)
