In the local elections in the city of Fulda, the CDU lost ground, but performed slightly better than the trend result on Sunday evening suggested.
Fulda – Counting took place in the polling stations and in the Fulda City Palace for three days: Since The final result for the election of the city council will be known on Tuesday afternoon. The CDU was at the Local election strongest party. The second force is the AfD, with significant gains.

Local elections in Fulda: How the city voted and who was elected
The CDU lost 4.5 percentage points compared to the election five years ago, but was able to gain based on the trend election results. This means that the Union candidates were able to score points when it came to personal votes. The AfD, on the other hand, has lost share of the vote, but can look forward to an overall gain of 12.9 points in the city compared to the 2021 election.
The city council assembly in Fulda has 59 seats: The CDU is the strongest faction with 22 seats, the AfD will have 12 city councilors, the Greens have 7 seats, the SPD 5. Left and Volt each have three city councilors, the FDP has two seats. Free Voters, FGG, CWE, The Party and Alliance C each won one mandate. There is no threshold for local elections. Finding a majority is likely to be difficult.
The following candidates for the CDU were elected to the city council assembly: Thomas Hering, Margarete Hartmann, Patricia Fehrmann, Markus Günther, Hans-Dieter Alt, Johannes Uth, Alexander Günther, Michael Ruppel, Dr. Marion Wagner, Lisa Kött, Peter Bleuel, Stefan Frauenholz, Benedikt Ihrig, Oliver Weißenberger, Susanne Jobst, Dr. Isabel Hohmann, Heike Kleemann, Guido Lomb, Franz-Josef Heimann, Sebastian Böhning, Dr. Thomas Sitte and Stephanie Rützel.
The AfD parliamentary group consists of: Frank Schüßler, Pierre Lamely, Dr. Bettina Licht, Artur Gilbert, Ronny Lamely, Berthold Schüßler, Christian Bittner, Hella Dietz, Matthias Zell, Beate Bartenstein, Carsten Clausen and Klaus Coburger. The following were elected for the Greens: Jutta Hamberger, Marie-Louise Puls, Emily Best, Jochen Kohlert, Knut Heiland, Christa Joa-Sporer and Ernst Sporer. The SPD seats go to: Jonathan Wulff, Christine Fischer, Dr. Thomas Bobke, Szymon Mazur and Robert Vey.
Emily Charlotte Rödel, Robin Burkard and Karin Denhard were elected for the Left; Elke Hohmann, Volker Elm and Anna Kleespies for Volt. The FDP city councilors are Michael Grosch and Helge Mühr.
Wilhelm Hartmann enters the city council for the Free Voters, and for FGG Dr. Tatavik Mamajanyan, for the CWE Elke Diegelmann, for the party Ute Riebold and for the Alliance C Alain Kaffo Tallaffo.
There may be changes among those elected in the next few weeks; for example when elected city councilors are sent to the magistrate by their parties. The applicants with the most votes then move up.
