Fulda wins the climbing marathon for the third time. The competition from Chemnitz and Bad Aibling fell just short.
Petersberg – The DAV Fulda climbing center secured victory in the Germany-wide climbing marathon for the third time. This was achieved thanks to the impressive performance of the eight participating teams, which ultimately held their own in front of the climbing centers from Chemnitz and Bad Aibling, reported the Fulda section of the German Alpine Club (DAV).
Fulda Climbing Center wins third climbing marathon title in a row
On March 14th, eleven climbing halls competed at the Fuldaer DAV climbing and bouldering center in Petersberg. The goal was to collect as many meters of climbing as possible in two three-hour sections. Each route had to be climbed completely and could only be used once per half. For the overall ranking, the climbing meters collected were compared to the number of participants.
Due to the smaller number of teams in Fulda compared to large halls such as Augsburg, Hamburg or Bochum, which had up to 30 teams, defending the title initially seemed difficult. But the eight teams from Fulda impressed right from the start. They moved to the top of the table in the first half and defended their lead until the break.

The question was whether the teams from Fulda could maintain their top position in the second half. The tension rose as the teams from Chemnitz and Bad Aibling caught up in the first third of the second half and came dangerously close to the climbers from Fulda.
But the Fulda teams mobilized all their strength in the second half and held on. In the end, the 16 climbers celebrated their third title win and took their fifth indoor victory since the competition format was founded at the DAV climbing center in Fulda. With 19,405 meters of climbing, the Fulda team was 200 meters per participant ahead of the competition from Chemnitz and Bad Aibling.

In the internal indoor ranking, Julian Enders and Niklas Spiegel took first place with 3000 meters of climbing. The first-place mixed team with Lena Obel and Hannes Bindernagel also collected almost 3,000 meters of climbing. Nele Gerwig and her climbing partner Carina decided the women's classification with 1624 climbing meters. They were the only team to compete in this category.
