The CDU defended its absolute majority in the Schlitz city council and even expanded it in percentage points.
Schlitz – According to the provisional official final result, the Christian Democrats received 52.17 percent of the valid votes cast. At the Local election five years ago it was 50.03 percent. Similar to 2021, this year too the counting of the variegated and cumulated votes produced an absolute majority. In the trend from Sunday evening, which was based only on the votes for one party or group of voters, the Christian Democrats were still well below 50 percent. There was a jump of more than 4.5 percentage points from the trend to the preliminary official final result.
Local elections: CDU wins absolute majority again in Schlitz
At first glance, the variegated and cumulated votes did little for the slasher SPD. While the Social Democrats were still at 21.78 percent on Sunday evening, it is now 21.04, even a slight deterioration compared to the trend. Five years ago the SPD got 24.21 percent. At second glance, however, the SPD benefits. While they were still in third place in favor of voters, just behind the Bunte Liste Schlitzerland, they are now in second place with a clear lead and are therefore still the strongest opposition party in the Schlitzer city parliament.
Because the BLS now has to accept a decline from 21.95 percent in trend to 17.59 percent. She nevertheless improved her result from the local elections five years ago, when she received a share of the vote of 14.85 percent. Similar to the SPD, the FDP lost votes compared to the 2021 local elections. Instead of 10.91 it is now 9.22 percent. However, this is an improvement over Sunday's trend. The Liberals were at 8.95 percent.
These numbers show that a trend and the preliminary official final result can differ by up to five percentage points with variegated and cumulated votes. The distribution of seats in the next legislative period of the Schlitz city council has practically not changed compared to the previous one. Of the 31 seats awarded, the CDU still has 16 and thus once again has a majority of one vote. The Social Democrats have seven seats, the BLS gets five and the FDP still has three seats.
Participation in local elections has been revised downwards significantly. It is only 26.85 percent. Only about one in four people made use of their right to vote – out of 17,602 eligible voters there were 4,727. There were 128,750 valid votes and 246 ballot papers cast were invalid.
After 15 years, a few weeks ago Gerald Gottwald said farewell to his position as spokesman for the mayors at the traditional mayor's dinner in Schlitz.
