In the city and district, the Christian Democrats, as the strongest faction, would only mathematically have one option for a two-party alliance: The AfD, which has gained a lot of votes, proudly announced on election evening that it was ready to work with the CDU. Whether the Union will actually raise this is a completely different matter.
The Christian Democrats' rejection of a coalition was already very clear during the election campaign. Dag Wehner for the city and Thomas Hering for the district CDU also reiterated this course on election evening.
