As expected, there will be a runoff election between Mayor Maximilian Bieri and City Councilor Isabelle Hemsley. There are also signs of a success for the SPD in the election for the city council in the now independent Hanau, although narrower than in the mayoral election. According to 56 of 112 electoral districts counted, the SPD is with 31.33 percent ahead of the CDU with 28.77 percent. The third strongest force is currently the Greens (10.81 percent) ahead of the AfD (10.46 percent).

He currently has 48.53 percent of the vote, Isabelle Hemsley has 35.16 percent of the vote. Voter turnout is currently just over 48 percent.
Election in Hanau: Six candidates want to become mayor
