Update from March 12th, 5:44 p.m.: The accident occurred on Thursday (March 12) shortly after 5 p.m. According to initial information, the trailer of a tractor overturned while turning onto Frankfurter Strasse. The trailer had become detached from the towing vehicle in the curve for an unknown reason. Eyewitnesses reported a loud bang.
Accident in Fulda: trailer tips over
The rescue workers responded with a large contingent. There was at least one person injured. According to initial information from the scene of the accident, the trailer hit a pedestrian and trapped him underneath it. The man was seriously injured, but fortunately not life-threatening, a police spokesman said.
According to witnesses, the man was able to free himself. Another passer-by was hit by part of the trailer. He was slightly injured. The police were initially unable to say why the accident occurred – whether there was a driving error or a technical defect or whether the team was possibly traveling too fast.
The public prosecutor commissioned an expert to determine the exact course of the accident and the cause of the accident. According to police, a traffic light was also affected in the accident. There were significant traffic disruptions around the busy intersection of Von-Schildeck-Straße/Bardostraße/Frankfurter Straße. The emergency services were on site with a fire truck, an ambulance, two ambulances and two police cars.
