“It’s all just slapped on top” Burger giants put to the test! Where is taste AND quality right?
The big fast food check!
Fries, burgers, chicken nuggets and cola – we take a closer look at three providers. Which burger tastes best? Where can you get the most fries for the money? And are we getting good quality meat in the nuggets? Together with our tester Ivana, an expert takes a close look at all the products.
For tester Ivana, Burger King comes out on top in the taste test
Our tester Ivana orders the same menu at McDonald's, Burger King and KFC: a burger, a large fries, half a liter of Cola and six chicken nuggets. At McDonald's we pay around 16 euros for this. Ivana immediately tries the cola and concludes: “Honestly, it’s kind of old.“The burger and fries don't really make her happy either. The chicken nuggets are a completely different story: “Well fried. And the meat in there looks and tastes really good.”

Burger King charges around 20 euros for our menu. Ivana likes cola and nuggets. She is thrilled with the burger: “Not only does it look fresh, it tastes very, very fresh.” Finally, she also tries the food from KFC for around 21 euros. As soon as she gets to the burger, Ivana says: “So everything was just slapped on top.” Fries and chicken bites don't convince them either.
A food expert looks at the products
Time for our expert, food technologist Dr. Stefan Lück, who takes a closer look at fast food. He has a clear opinion about French fries: “You can immediately see where the French fries come from. Ideally, the products reflect the image of a company so that the customer knows immediately where they are.” Of course, the fat for frying is also important and it has to be fresh. The McDonald's product surprises the expert: “I have to say, McDonald's french fries are the freshest.”

Regarding Ivana's assessment that the cola she tried was “old”, the expert explains: “You have to think about it, lots of it goes over the counter.” Something like this could happen that the carbon dioxide is simply no longer right. Dr. also checks the chicken meat in the nuggets. Stefan Lück. At McDonald's it looks like a meat preparation due to its consistency – seasoned and with other ingredients added, not pure meat. McDonald's did not respond to our inquiry about this. He likes the nuggets from Burger King and KFC much better.

The be-all and end-all in the test: the burger
Finally, the most important test: How do the burgers taste? Do they offer good value for money? For Dr. According to Stefan Lück, the burger patty must be made from meat and not from meat preparation. Something crunchy like lettuce, peppers or a tomato is also included.

When it comes to the taste of meat, Burger King can impress both tester Ivana and Dr. Convince Stefan Lück. The result from KFC, on the other hand, is sobering: “Here we have a bit of processed cheese. Pretty little. Pathetic, you could almost say. And a tomato.” KFC sends us a statement: “If there was a different distribution of quantities in the case you describe, this does not correspond to our requirement for consistent product quality.” The tested branch should be checked.
