
A teenager in Lower Franconia tried to escape from the police with daring overtaking maneuvers, high speeds and driving on the sidewalk. Now he faces criminal consequences.
Bad Neustadt an der Saale – The behavior of a 17-year-old now has far-reaching consequences for him. On Tuesday (March 3) around 1:20 p.m., the young man tried to escape from police officers in Brendlorenzen, a part of the municipality of Bad Neustadt an der Saale. In doing so, he endangered himself and others. The young person now has to answer in criminal proceedings, the police said.
Officials from the Bad Neustadt police noticed a fast-moving moped on Gartenstrasse in Brendlorenzen and decided to carry out a traffic check. The officers turned on blue lights and sirens and made clear loudspeaker announcements. However, the teenager did not respond to the patrol's stop signals.

Instead, the 17-year-old German continued his escape: he endangered himself and other road users with excessive speed, risky overtaking maneuvers and occasional swerving onto the sidewalk. Ultimately, however, the officers managed to stop the vehicle and prevent the young driver from continuing.
According to the current state of knowledge, the young person fled because illegal modifications had been made to his moped, according to the police. The two-wheeler was seized and criminal proceedings were initiated. The young man now has to answer for a prohibited motor vehicle race, driving without a license and other offenses.
