The inauguration of the Milseburghütte is approaching with great strides. In spring, all Rhön fans and hikers can see for themselves.
Hofbieber – The opening of the Milseburghütte is getting closer and closer. The official date is April 18th. Then visitors finally have the opportunity to get an idea of how the interior of the new hut under the mountain peak is designed.
But a lot still needs to be done before then. Hofbieber Mayor Markus Röder (independent) said the hibernation was over and gave an insight into the list of unfinished tasks that are now on the agenda.
Milseburghütte shortly before the finish: final work is underway
Specialist companies are currently busy carrying out the final work. The kitchen still needs to be installed, and final work is also planned for the Celtic room so that visitors can find out about the life of the Celts at Milseburg. Exhibitions are planned in the neighboring part of the building. Private individuals, schools or groups can find out more there.
“The power is already up,” the mayor reported to the members of the municipal council at their last meeting. This means that the craftsmen can now charge their tools using the hut's socket.

The supply of water through the new 410 meter long underground pipe, whose relocation from Danzwiesen up to the hut had caused so many problems last yearThe fact that there had been repeated delays should take place the week after next. This also includes the connection to the wastewater disposal system.
On the subject of water, Röder explained that a so-called pressure boosting system must be installed because the water has to be transported over a height difference of more than 100 meters from Danzwiesen to the hut at 820 meters above sea level. In addition, all cables that were led underground must be brought together in a shaft and routed to the technical room of the new hut.
There is still a lot of work waiting for the companies, and there is hope that there will be no further onset of winter, which can always happen with construction work at an altitude of 800 meters.
When all of this work is completed – at best in a good two weeks – then you can the new tenants, the married couple Matthias and Heike Goldbachwork in the hut, design the kitchen and storage according to their needs and organize the work processes so that the guests – there will be many at the beginning – can be well entertained.
Key handover and opening planned for April 18th
So if everything goes well, then six and a half years after the closure of the old Milseburghütte in October 2019, life will finally come back to the new facility, and the story that there has been a hut on the Milseburg for 141 years can be continued.
This will be celebrated with a key handover and an official opening on Saturday, April 18th. Afterwards, all Rhön friends are invited to use the Milseburghütte.
