A storm brings unpleasant, sometimes dangerous weather to Germany!
There are strong thunderstorms, especially in the southwest of the country. The German Weather Service does not rule out hurricane gusts and short-lived tornadoes there.
This is what the weather will bring today
In some parts of Germany, Corpus Christi is celebrated this Thursday (June 4th). But the weather usually gets in the way of outdoor activities. Strong thunderstorms with squalls, hail and heavy rain are possible in the southwest. The German Weather Service (DWD) said hurricane gusts of up to 129 kilometers per hour and short-lived tornadoes cannot be ruled out there. There could be a strong thunderstorm in the southeast in the evening. The DWD is forecasting at least significantly freshening southwest and westerly winds for the northwest half of Germany – stormy gusts are possible in some areas.

The explanation was that Germany was coming into the area of influence of a storm near Scotland. The southwest is particularly affected: there are sometimes strong thunderstorms in this area during the day. Small-grain hail and gusts of up to 90 kilometers per hour are possible and local heavy rain with 20 liters of water per square meter in a short period of time.

Continuous rain expected on Friday night
The thunderstorm activity is expected to subside on Friday night. That's what rain comes for: In the Alps and from the Ore Mountains to the Zittau Mountains, heavy or continuous rain with up to 30 liters per square meter in twelve hours cannot be ruled out. There can be stiff gusts on the North Sea, and in mountain peaks there can be stormy gusts of up to 85 kilometers per hour. (dpa/tma)
