Suddenly there is a fire in the children's room!
Two children were injured in a fire in the children's room on Tuesday evening in Fürstenau, one of them seriously. Brave first aiders rush to help and prevent anything worse from happening.
It was almost dark outside and it was probably already bedtime for the children when a fire suddenly broke out in the children's room of a family from Fürstenau (Osnabrück district) on Tuesday evening (June 3rd). People on the street quickly recognize the situation. “Witnesses saw a child on the balcony,” a police spokeswoman reported to RTL. The witnesses rush to help with a ladder and rescue a child from the burning danger to the outside via the balcony.
A twelve-year-old boy who is visiting his family in Fürstenau manages to escape himself. He suffers serious injuries and is taken to a special clinic. An eleven-year-old boy who lives in the house is slightly injured. He also comes to the hospital. Heavy rain makes operations in Fürstenau more difficult; a requested rescue helicopter cannot make it to the scene due to the storm.
It is unclear why the fire broke out in the single-family home on Ettenfelder Strasse and is still being investigated. Around 40 firefighters fought the fire on Tuesday evening. The police estimate the damage to be between 50,000 and 100,000 euros. (dpa/ela)
