Personal messageRock legend Udo Lindenberg (80) reports from the hospital
His fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
The musician Udo Lindenberg (80) has been admitted to a clinic. There he was advised to take a week-long break. Nothing more was known on Friday afternoon; there was speculation that he had a fainting spell. But a few hours later the all-clear was given: I'm fine, writes Udo in a message to the fans.
Udo Lindenberg's doctors advise taking a long break
The Brost Foundation, which made the delivery public, wrote on Instagram on Friday afternoon: “It is with great regret that we have to cancel the event, Udo Lindenberg & Friends, planned for June 3, 2026 in the Gronau Community Hall.” The musician “is currently undergoing hospital treatment and, on the advice of his doctors, will need some time off in the coming weeks. We regret this very much – together with you, we were looking forward to a special evening with him and numerous companions.”
Actually, it is initially said that he suffered a faint attack on Wednesday (May 27th). At least that's what the Hamburger Abendblatt reported. But now Udo surprises everyone: he has one gastritisi.e. inflammation of the stomach lining, as he stated in his management letter. “By the way, I'm just letting the doctors scare away my annoying gastritis – unfortunately it pops up every now and then – and while I'm at it, my whole body is getting a check-up. I do it every year anyway. I can only recommend it to anyone of a certain age. After all, the store should hold on for a while longer. At least up to 100! Take care – and thank you again for all your magic.”

Rare couple photo shared for their 80th
Udo Lindenberg just celebrated his 80th birthday. On this occasion, his partner Tine Acke shared an unusually personal couple photo from Scotland. The photographer has been at Lindenberg's side for almost 30 years – mostly far from the public eye.
The self-proclaimed panic rocker only turned 80 on May 17th. But instead of a specially organized Senate breakfast for the honorary citizen of the city of Hamburg, the singer came away empty-handed on his birthday. In Hamburg it is actually a tradition to celebrate the milestone birthdays of its honorary citizens with a Senate breakfast. But that is now out for Udo Lindenberg of all people. The reason? “The Senate breakfast doesn’t really fit in with Udo Lindenberg’s daily routine,” said a Senate spokesman.
However, the celebration should not be completely canceled. They say they are talking and looking for the right opportunity. If Udo has his way, the Senate will still have time to plan for the next 20 years. Because 80 isn't the end for him: “That's a number from the company 'Scheissegal', we're from the 100-year-old club, I always say.” It's still a while until his 100th birthday, but fans should be excited about an announcement like this: looking forward to the next 20 years full of music, long nights and weird dance numbers.
