Hyrox events are held indoors – but the heat may still have played a role
Hyrox events generally take place indoors, and several athletes say that the conditions in the hall were not extreme, even though there were enormous temperatures outside. One participant tells Hybrid Fitness Media: “The whole hall was very well air-conditioned.” Another athlete explains: “It was extremely hot outside in Lyon, but it was pleasant indoors.”
Nevertheless, experts warn against underestimating heat. French emergency physician Aurel Guedj explained to BFMTV that sudden increases in temperature can put a lot of strain on the body, according to Hybrid Fitness Media. Athletes in particular would have difficulty getting used to such extreme values within a few days.
