
A night-time search involving a helicopter led to the arrest of a suspected burglar in Bruchköbel. The man is now in custody.
Bruchköbel/Hanau – Saturday (May 23rd) around 10 p.m. two people broke into a single-family home on Arnold-Hofacker-Straße (single-digit house numbers) in the Hanau district of Mittelbuchen and searched the living quarters. The perpetrators then fled in an unknown direction.
Burglary in Hanau: Helicopter operation and an arrest
According to the police, several patrol cars were immediately deployed; A police helicopter was also used in the course of the search. The Bruchköbel–Hanau Nord railway line had to be closed briefly for the search.
The attention of citizens paid off: According to the police, their tips ultimately led to the arrest of one of the two burglars in the Niederried area of Bruchköbel. He was ordered held in custody. The second perpetrator is still on the run despite intensive search efforts.
It is still unclear whether the burglars made any money during their crime and is the subject of further investigations. In order to solve the crime, the criminal police secured evidence at the single-family home that night. Burglars also struck at the fire department in Gelnhausen and tools stolen.
