The city of Schlüchtern is extending the heating cooperation for the outdoor pool. Deliveries are made via a line from the furniture factory next door. The new contract regulates details for the next few years.
Schlüchtern – Sufficient heat in the swimming pools is already ensured: Even after Reopening of the Schlüchtern outdoor swimming pool This summer the city administration is resorting to an ingenious heating concept.
The leisure facility is optimally supplied without oil, without gas and without long transport routes. The supplier of the required energy is the furniture factory Fr. Rudolf & Sohn GmbH + Co.KG, which is located just a few meters away at Dreispitzehle 5. A traditional family business that produces modern, high-quality furniture.
How furniture production leftovers help the Schlüchtern outdoor swimming pool
And the production processes produce offcuts and wood chips that are not thrown away, but are burned as valuable raw materials in two modern boilers. The resulting energy is used not only in the company itself, but also in the outdoor pool. This cooperation has existed since 2010.
Managing director Karl-Friedrich Rudolf has calculated that the city of Schlüchtern saved almost a million liters of heating oil during the time until the swimming facility was closed before the major renovation. “An economically and ecologically sensible solution,” emphasized Mayor Matthias Möller (independent) when signing a new framework agreement for the coming years. “This means we have enough energy for one of the warmest outdoor swimming pools in the area,” says Möller happily.
The project is also financially worthwhile for the municipality. Karl-Friedrich Rudolf emphasizes that Rudolf's district heating is offered via a pipe much cheaper than usual market prices: “This is inexpensive heating without fossil fuels.” The mayor agrees and speaks of a “dream constellation”. He refers to the spatial proximity of the company and the outdoor pool on the outskirts of the city.
In this way, the city can successfully make a difference together with a local company. This makes economical use of their boiler system. A real “win-win situation,” Möller enthuses. And Karl-Friedrich Rudolf also sees a personal advantage: As a citizen of Schlüchtern, he ultimately wants to do laps in the warm water of the new outdoor pool every now and then. (shush)
