Some people had to look twice!
Queen Camilla (78) attracted attention with an unusual look at the “Badminton Horse Trials 2026” on Friday (May 8th). The wife of King Charles (77) is considered a reliable wearer of dresses – but at this appointment the 78-year-old surprisingly appeared in a black trouser suit. An unexpected break in style.

Queen Camilla surprises with her look

Queen Camilla is a regular guest at the “Badminton Horse Trials”. On her last visit in 2024, she wore a checked blue dress by designer Samantha Sungwith camel brown pointed pumps. But this year she was obviously looking for something different.

The 78-year-old did not appear at the prestigious equestrian event in Gloucestershire in her typical dress, but wore a black blazer with matching trousers. She paired it with a white shirt and platform sneakers in dark blue and carried her quilted Chanel bag in navy.

As part of the appearance, Camilla presented rosettes to members of the “Ebony Horse Club” – a gesture that brought special attention to the club, which introduces children and young people from disadvantaged areas of London to equestrian sports.

Just one day before her trip to Gloucestershire, Camilla had been on a completely different mission: She opened the new exhibition “Monarchy” at the Fan Museum in Greenwich – in her capacity as patron of the house. There she was also shown a particularly personal object: an elaborately crafted fan that was part of her official coronation portrait.

Royal garden party in a dress

At the beginning of the week, Camilla and King Charles had already made a social presence at home after their trip to the USA: Together with Prince Edward (62) and Princess Anne (75), they welcomed around 8,000 guests at the first garden party of the season at Buckingham Palace.

As a clip on the royal Instagram page shows, Camilla chose a familiar look for the occasion. She appeared in a pastel blue embroidered coat dress by Fiona Clare. She paired it with a matching Philip Treacy hat and a moonstone and diamond brooch. (spot on news/tma)
