A German hiker is believed to have had a fatal accident while hiking to a waterfall in Vorarlberg. Because his dog had a GPS tracker attached to it, the man was quickly located. Nevertheless, any help came too late.
German dies while hiking with dog in Austria
A 65-year-old German man died in an accident in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg. According to the police, the man from Einbeck in Lower Saxony set off on a two-hour hike from Ausserbraz on Saturday morning. His dog accompanied him on the tour.
When the 65-year-old doesn't come back as agreed, his wife reacts. It locates the dog using a GPS tracker attached to the animal.

German hiker discovered motionless at the waterfall
The landlord of the accommodation then sets off with the location data. In the late morning he found the hiker from Lower Saxony motionless at the foot of a waterfall in the Winkeltobel area.

The police assume that the holidaymaker crashed there. An emergency doctor is brought to the site in a rescue helicopter. But for the 65-year-old, any help comes too late. The doctor can only determine that the man is dead. According to the police, there is no evidence of foul play. (jka)
