The Vogelsberg uses the Hessentag in Fulda as a stage to present itself as an attractive region for tourism and life. For Vogelsberger, travel should be easier thanks to better connections.

Vogelsbergkreis – The district and volcanic region Vogelsberg Tourismus GmbH (VVT) want to advertise local excursion destinations. Out of the certainty that the Vogelsberg is already well positioned and that Hesse day will give tailwind to this course. “The Hessentag in Fulda is a great opportunity for the Vogelsberg district to present itself as an attractive region in the immediate vicinity,” says District Administrator Dr. Jens Mischak (CDU). According to him, the Vogelsbergkreis will be represented with its own stand on the “Street of Business & Innovation” on all ten days from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Under the heading “Free space for business & education, culture & tourism, life & living” the region presents itself as a home worth living in. The focus is on affordable housing, proximity to nature and career prospects. The offer is supplemented by information on vacant building and commercial spaces as well as interactive activities. According to District Administrator Mischak, the program at the stand is deliberately broad. In addition to the district administration, several cities and communities from Vogelsberg will also be present on site.

A painting campaign and offers for children are intended to create additional incentives. The district also cooperates with the Hesse State Music Academy from Schlitz, whose stand area is directly adjacent. Another focus is on addressing day guests. “Of course we are very happy if Hessentag inspires visitors to spontaneously explore the neighboring Vogelsberg district,” emphasizes Mischak. The volcanic region is ideal for hikes, refreshments or cultural excursions. “Visitors should be specifically addressed and informed.”

As Petra Schwing-Döring, managing director of Vulkanregion Vogelsberg Tourismus GmbH, announced, the Vulkanregion Vogelsberg will present itself together with its Vogelsberg locations and partners from June 12th to 21st at the “On the Trail of Nature” site. “This is an experience space that focuses on the topics of local ties, regionality and nature conservation“, add VVT project manager Monika Henkel and her colleague Loreen Wiezorek.

Together with numerous partners and the Vogelsberg municipalities, the Vogelsberg volcanic region presents itself on a wide variety of tourism topics – such as hiking, cycling, Vogelsberg cuisine and regionality, half-timbered buildings, culture, excursion destinations, geoparks and climate protection.

“As a fixed point of contact for the children's course, various hands-on activities are offered every day for the whole family,” she revealed. Among other things, you will be able to “grasp” the Vogelsberg in the truest sense of the word in various tactile boxes. “You can get creative by making sheep from real sheep's wool or by doing crafts with stones and wire. There is fun and knowledge at the stone quiz and the experiment station or the skill games,” Petra Schwing-Döring and Monika Henkel list some of the activities.

There will also be a Vogelsberg selfie point for nice souvenir photos. “Under the motto 'Nature on the Trail', we invite Hessentag visitors to get information and inspiration at the stand and then discover the Vogelsberg for themselves with all their senses,” said the tourism experts.

Vogelsbergkreis is diverse and traditional at the Hessentag

A highlight of the state festival is the traditional pageant. “Our region will present itself as diverse and traditional at the grand finale of Hessentag,” announces Jens Mischak. However, details about the participating groups have not yet been determined.

Hessentag itself offers numerous highlights. Concerts, state exhibitions and themed areas characterize the program. The journey plays a central role. According to Johannes Heller, municipal press spokesman for the city of Fulda, expansions are planned on the Vogelsbergbahn and on bus route 591 (Schlitz-Hutzdorf to Fulda and back).

“These should run more often and later in the evening,” explained Heller when asked Fulda newspaper. More detailed information and specific times would be announced as soon as the final timetables were determined. They will then also be on the Internet hessentag-fulda.de to see. According to the city of Fulda, visitor parking spaces for guests arriving by car are already signposted on the access roads, for example along the B254 from the direction of Lauterbach.
