A burning garden shed caused a major incident on Sunday morning. 40 emergency services prevented the fire from spreading to the neighboring building.
Schlitz – The emergency services were called to an F2 fire on Auf der Lange Wiese street in Schlitz early on Sunday morning (May 3rd). When they arrived, a hut was ablaze. “We found a garden shed fully ablaze,” reported Andreas Leinweber, deputy city fire inspector for the city of Schlitz.
Burning garden hut caused major incidents in Schlitz
The biggest challenge for the fire brigade was the dense development: a second hut was right next to it and was also in danger of catching fire. However, thanks to the rapid extinguishing work, the emergency services were able to prevent the flames from spreading and quickly extinguish the fire.
Despite the quick extinguishing process, the hut burned down completely. Since there was rubbish stored in the hut, the extinguishing work continued for some time. A total of around 40 members of the Schlitz fire department, the police and the rescue service were on duty.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, according to deputy city fire inspector Andreas Leinweber. The cause of the fire and the resulting property damage are currently unclear.
The emergency services were called to an F2 fire just a few days before, on Friday (May 1st). A forest fire broke out in a forest near Romrod in Vogelsberg.
