Fulda district – The CDU, CWE and FDP/FGG factions in the Fulda district council want to work together to make the district economically strong, modern and future-proof in the coming years. As the partners report, everyone involved is supporting the alliance after discussions in the respective committees.
New three-party alliance wants to make the Fulda district politically future-proof
“We are united by a broad foundation of content and a common understanding of what actually advances our district and the local people,” explains Thomas Hering, chairman of the CDU parliamentary group. According to Hering, the focus of the joint work is solid district finances, an efficient infrastructure with well-developed district roads, modern and well-equipped schools, comprehensive broadband coverage and the strengthening of voluntary work with its clubs, fire departments and disaster control. The nationally respected commitment to safety and health should be continued.
At the The CDU was clearly the strongest force in the local elections in March with 44.5 percent become. Together, the new alliance has 42 of 81 seats in the Fulda district council.
For the newly founded FDP/FGG parliamentary group The agreement “forms a sustainable framework for the next five years”. FDP district chairman Mario Klotzsche emphasizes that the clear goal is to “make the Fulda district economically strong, modern and future-proof”. Solid budgets, an efficient infrastructure and reliable framework conditions for companies and citizens are the backbone of this development. As Klotzsche further explains, the aim is to specifically strengthen the business location – through support in the designation of commercial areas, effective economic development and the preservation of jobs in the region. Digitalization should be promoted just as consistently: citizen-oriented digital administration and sustainable investments in cybersecurity are important location factors for the parliamentary group.
The chairman of the CWE, Thomas Grünkorn, particularly emphasizes the trusting cooperation during the negotiations. “The discussions were characterized by openness and mutual respect. We were able to identify numerous overlaps and are convinced that we can work together on this basis in the interest of the common good,” said Grünkorn. It was crucial for the CWE that central points of its district election program were included in the cooperation agreement. According to him, this primarily includes ensuring health care in clinics and rural areas as well as modern furnishings and equipment in schools.
CDU cooperates with CWE and FDP/FGG
CDU district chairman Frederik Schmitt explains the background to the new cooperation: “What is crucial is that we share responsibility for our homeland. The CDU, CWE and FDP/FGG are united by the will to successfully develop the Fulda district further,” explains Schmitt. We are building on a proven and trusting collaboration over the past few years.
The CDU and CWE and the CDU and FDP had already cooperated in the district council in the previous two electoral periods. This tradition will now be continued in the three-way constellation. According to the parliamentary groups involved, key future issues should be moved forward decisively and at the same time the district council should be strengthened as a forum for open debates. “We will continue to work in a fact- and solution-oriented manner – in cooperation and in the interests of our district,” concluded Hering.
